The following four images represent a China Photo spread showing some of my international relations work experience in China.

The fine Chief Prosecutor and I have a moment of looking into one another's face and eyes with a handshake after the Judicial Reform Negotiations have been completed as Foreign Affairs Assistant Feng Weyna and the Foreign Affairs man who gave me his tie that day look on in affirmation that I have achieved something worthwhile Between The Dragon and The Eagle. I take this opportunity to express my respect and appreciation to President Judge Song, the Senior Appellate Judges, The Prosecutor and the Foreign Affairs staff. I look forward to seeing them again.

Shaking hands with the distinguished senior Appellate Judge on the successful breakthrough towards achieving what would become China's Major Judicial Reform. On my right, translating in my ear is Foreign Affairs Agenda Manager Feng Weyna, the Schoolteacher/Paramedic (center rear) and The Prosecutor in the light shirt (left rear). [As you can see, I am built like Churchill; I have nothing to hide but a fair amount to cover . . . some Chinese call me The Big Man in their language.] As President, it is my intention we will work together to achieve some extraordinary benefits for China – to whom you can see I extend my hand and face in friendship and respect – and America.

10 Major Specific Policy Agendas
1. The Economy. First, once more, I humbly acknowledge those fine, very hard-working, longsuffering rank and file honest Members of Congress who faithfully perform their various duties to the best of their ability. David Baldacci in his fine book Saving Faith, defines them as the 75% of Congress who are the "True Believers" whose diligent efforts maintain the basic goodness of our system of government. My economic focus will be on working with them to improve the national and each individual American's personal economy, for all parts of the American demographic. As, before entering law school at Syracuse University, I have had a seven year first career in the U. S. Railroad Retirement Board where I was trained in the official U. S. Government training for those persons who directly calculate and determine Railroad Retirement (both the 1937 and 1974 Acts), Social Security Retirement and Disability Monthly money entitlements called Annuities and Benefits and Medicare Enrollments, I have a sound knowledge base and good understanding to work to strengthen the retirement safety net across-the-board for all Americans and this will be one of my prime Domestic Policy Issues. Further, I have a specific plan which will save the great American automobile manufacturers such as Ford and GM, and certain other large, mid-sized and even small entrepreneurs' shops, like the more than 300 sound mixing labs I was told were within a mile or two of where I once lived near Sunset and Vine in Hollywood, California. These are American industries which provide livelihoods for many millions of Americans, some of which like the sprawling, eclectic entertainment industry are dependent on Intellectual Property protection from modern day piracies such as unauthorized copying or copycatting of music CDs and movie DVDs and a myriad of other creations of the workforce and inventive minds of Americans, things like formulas for everything from advanced polymers and adhesives to fiber optics and super high tech electronics, who, together with their dependent individual American employees, which may be just about at the edge and perhaps selling off their only cash cow asset or subsidiary to stave off total collapse. This stopgap measure generally will only work once because the parent company usually has just one really good, big money-rich such asset to sell off, like GM just now selling off GMAC for $14billion, raising desperately needed cash to offset a $12billion annual loss. Here my special international legal and economic training and operations I have become familiar with across a broad spectrum and played a part in through certain fluid dynamics within The International Legal System has built up in me certain strengths and understandings in dealing with other countries which as President I will exert on behalf of American interests.
2. The Military and the War in Iraq. I will keep the traditionally strong on Defense and Security of the American People position - just because a fire is put out one does not dismantle the fire department.
As regards the ongoing War in Iraq I have a specific Military Plan to Finish Well. I will refer to this plan by that name: Finish Well. My plan to Finish Well, which I will Order the Pentagon to execute on the first day I am President, is not the Republicans plan and it is not the Democrats plan. My plan to Finish Well is intended, among other important things, to be better for our Military than our present plans and operations. To be clear: First of all, I support and I do not criticize President George W. Bush's military positions. Our enemies cannot expect lighter treatment from me than they had from him; they would do well to make peace with him while they have the chance. I do make one respectful request of President Bush at this time: activate and have in crisp working order by my Inauguration Day a strong, fully operational military draft system that may be called upon properly and in good order for such fresh troops as I may find needful. As the war will have been left on my plate to clean up when he departs Office I will of necessity deal with it. As the new Commander In Chief my plan will be to Finish Well. If I should become President to start with I intend to emphasize continuity with U. S. military operations President Bush has commenced and by working respectfully and flexibly with the Pentagon, without sudden discontinuities or disruptions in preexisting military planning, logistics, deployments and operations smoothly merging what he and our Military have accomplished into my new and different plan to Finish Well. If the Good Lord is willing, my plan is intended to Finish Well the war in Iraq at some undisclosed point in time during the eight years starting the day I become President.
There was a candid exchange between our present Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld and the press some months ago in which he was taken to task about not having sent a large enough number of soldiers to conduct war in Iraq. He made the now famous statement that "You don't go to war with the army you want, you go to war with the army you have."
This provides a good context for me to state clearly my own view of the U. S. Armed Forces.
I love them.
As it happens, I know a lot about the U. S. military, due in part to certain experiences in my childhood when our next door neighbor was a U. S. Congressman who was on the House of Representatives Armed Services Committee and Foreign Affairs Committee and served on one of their Southeast Asia Subcommittees during the time leading up to the Vietnam War. (You may find Chapter 5 of My Story titled Playing Soldiers interesting as related to some U. S. Government leadership figures from that era. Click on the My Story tab at the top of the page, then at the end of that page click Read More and scroll down, or, just click My Story continued at the bottom of that page and scroll down. These chapters start with 1 and originally ran through 6. The Manuscript Copy of the full book - now available for a donation as shown at the bottom of page 1 - is 20 chapters with a considerable amount of additional photos and may best be just read straight through as one complete integrated story.)
As it happens, also, my mother was the Supervisor of the research and documentation preparation unit for special requests made by Members of Congress for their constituents, themselves or their Committees, in the Library of Congress that was then called Special Services and has developed over the years into what is now called The Congressional Research Service. [As I make an editorial note here it is February 16, 2006 and the night before last I stayed awake until 1:50AM watching a Hearing of The National Security Subcommittee of the Government Reform Committee of the U. S. House of Representatives, chaired by Representative Chris Shays (R-Conn.) with Ranking Member Dennis Kucinych (D-Ohio), a former U. S. Presidential contender, both fine examples of what David Baldacci refers to in his book Saving Faith as "True Believers" in our American governmental system, who heard inter alia testimony that a man in The Congressional Research Service was a presently active case in their subcomittee's area of Congressional Oversight Jurisdiction. So it seems this office has remained a hot address all these years.] Sometimes she came home saying her fingertips still tingled as they were processing so many research papers. In some of my high school years I spent some time there in the stacks where you could see down through the floors and floors of books, reading and roaming the largest Library in the world. This is a loss to the entire world that is at stake in the possibilities raised by the Paul L. Williams 2005 book The Al Quaeda Connection, International Terrorism, Organized Crime and the Coming Apocalypse.
It is also the place the United States prepared and published under a title so catchy one would not be likely to forget it for some time, it's first - and never conducted! it should be noted - plan for the U. S. Military Invasion and Takeover of the Oil Fields of Saudi Arabia, yes the name was something just almost exactly like that. This was a report, published I think in August 1975 I believe it was, by a Congressional Committee I think it was called the Senate Foreign Relations or House Foreign Affairs Committee then, which our next door neighbor, of whom I write in my book, had gone on to become the Chairman. This publication of the U. S. Government is mentioned in one of ex-CIA Agent Robert Baer's books, perhaps the one titled See No Evil, The True Story of a Footsoldier in the CIA's War On Terorism or the one titled Sleeping With The Devil, How Washington Sold Our Soul For Saudi Crude. In my case, Mom came home from work one day in the 1970s and said to me "You're majoring in Political Science, right? Well, America is planning to invade Saudi Arabia militarily to take over their oilfields. Put that in your pipe and smoke it College Boy." She slapped the Library of Congress Report she had just finished assembling for the Congressional Committee down on the kitchen table. I don't think I have ever heard anything that in its time and place ever sounded and seemed so far-fetched. Certainly, at the present time I would not contemplate any such thing. For those of you latecomers who didn't have the benefit of (as Jennifer Garner, the main star of the fine J. J. Abrams television spy series ALIAS turned the breathless pronunciation of into an art form) "Mom", you will find former CIA Agent Robert Baer's books, which are available also in audio CD I believe, will bring you right up to date on (some of) the shenanigans by which our Fancy Dancers in the Capitol and the many Administrations have brought us to the point we are now arrived at between between a rock and hard place one might say, or, one might say between Iraq and Iran and an oil and nukes place. I would very much prefer to Make Peace if and when I become President. I take this earliest of opportunities to extend an Open Hand of Peace, like the fine Arab word Romanized as Ido, the symbol of the Hand of God in the culture of the Middle East, to Osama bin Laden and the Islamic Ummah, yet remembering that as is remembered in the world of Islam, as well as Hollywood's recent film Kingdom of Heaven, that when Salah Hu Din made Peace for Jerusalem it required two to extend open hands one to another Saladin to Jerusalem and Jerusalem to Saladin. See, I have set before you Life and Death: choose Life and live, choose Death and you and by your merely choosing poorly your people, too, will die. You may destroy your own people.
Should Osama Bin Laden carry out his worst plans for a weapons of mass destruction attack on America - "a nuclear hellstorm" or "American Hiroshima", during the time I should be President (and although I do not speak for the President, if I read George W. Bush correctly he will long ago have communicated similarly effective standing orders to all U. S. armed services) the retaliatory responsive strikes from U. S. land-, air- and sea-based weapons platforms will effectively end Islamic civilization worldwide.

If I MUST enter in to a war I want to go to war with our U. S. Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force and of course my own alma mater service The U. S. Coast Guard. Do not think I claim to be any kind of miltary war hero, I am not. I was a Flotilla Officer in the Coast Guard Auxiliary, what in many other countries are named their Life Saving Service, the uniformed, non-armed, unpaid, volunteer yet somewhat larger than half of the Coast Guard which works with emergency response, firefighting, rescue, first aid, watercraft safety including prevention of explosions, dewatering, natural disaster response, training and certain maritime inspection issues. To be express and clear, my service was as a uniformed Coast Guard Officer yet not armed, active duty military service, but rather work assisting and supplementing the extremely tough and competent Coasties who carry guns and interdict trouble approaching our shores.
It is important to note that I balance my knowledge, understanding, and appreciation of our fine military, and a strong, broad and deep commitment to our military, in that I have a personal calling as a Peacemaker. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, who had war declared upon him (it is sometimes forgotten that we, the USA, did not declare war on Japan until after Pearl Harbor was attacked by surprise while we were in Neutral status and following that event in which many Americans died it was Germany who declared war upon America in consequence of their pact with Japan, America had not declared war on Germany, a pattern which seems to be repeating itself today with those who would make themselves our enemy) is shown in the recently released Digital Video Disc box set of Herman Wouk's The Winds of War, which at the time it was made was geographically the largest production in television history, filmed in ten countries around the world I believe, as saying "It is a very bad thing to go to war."
I listen to those words of FDR coming thoughtfully down the decades to our time and will remember them. Yet if war comes unbidden upon our doorstep, I will not hesitate to sound the order to war. Still, I will prefer to Make Peace. Remember: nothing will save more lives of our own service personnel than to Make Peace.
Yet FDR had war declared upon him by two terrible and powerful foreign adversaries. To be a Peacemaker requires strength and discernment, wisdom and a clear and comprehensive worldview with strong professional knowledge of the International Legal System and an equable, unwavering temperament, which we have not seen since perhaps the likes of TR, FDR, IKE and Ronald Reagan.
The 911 Commission in its official published report expressly states in the first section of Chapter 12 titled WHAT TO DO? GLOBAL STRATEGY Defining The Threat that this threat is "Islamist terrorism - especially the Al-Quaeda network, its affiliates and its ideology." This is therefore official United States Policy. The 911 Commision Report in the same section also clearly states that America is NOT at war with the religion known as Islam. This is also therefore official United States Policy. I fully understand and accept these statements of U. S. Policy. To America, I say I understand what is at stake in our present clash.
This is a part of my intellectual makeup which comes from a background of connection and study concerning the great historical figure known to the world as Sir Winston Churchill, in whose Other Club Dining Room, The H.M.S. Pinafore in the Savoy Hotel in London, with the black cat Kaspar carved from a single piece of plane tree from Australia on the mantelpiece, I have had the opportunity to reflect on the great man, whose Political Philosophy, with the prime importance placed upon what is termed the Liberty Interest, has been said by others older and wiser than me who know me well, to be my own. Please allow me to take this moment to express my special respect to The Other Club concerning which I wrote and published a copyrighted piece here in America. I should say also my respects to Fleet Street in honor (ah, if you were jarred by my leaving out the u from honour just there you may enjoy the BritSpeak insert at the end of Chapter 15 DALLAS 1964 in my book) of my grandfather who published The British-American newspaper in Chicago in the 1930s, the first in the world to endorse Sir Winston as War Prime Minister I think, and to The Club, The Lords and Ladies especially that Saville Row former House Speaker who wrote to me, Her Majesty and The Royal Family. In the same breath I ask your forgiveness in advance for the many miscreantisms I will doubtless commit using, abusing or misusing the instrumentality of your fine language which we here have done our Yank damnedst to turbocharge up a bit.
This, what is at stake, is what none of the present crop of losing Managers or Coaches from previous teams seem to grasp. This is truly a set of Liliputians, Yahoos and Brobdingnangers - it's a sort of South Beach Diet kind of thing, you know, say 30/20/50 - of the types Jonathon Swift so carefully warned us not put our trust in - as seen in The Travels of Gulliver, the best rendition of which I find is the film starring the fine actor Mr. Ted Danson now available in video format.
Also, My Friends, I say to you the warning that Aragorn told the frightened hobbits early on in the great war of the Ring of Power "I know what hunts you. There is no wizard with you now to protect you. They are coming". I offer myself to you now on the altar of public service. It may be that I can protect you as none other can. It may be we are being attacked by such bloodthirsty unaccountable fanatics with no sense of restraint - on the use of atomic bombs for example, whose maker said when he saw that first mushroom cloud something like "Now I am become death, the destroyer of worlds" and we may have now reached the point he foresaw - that it has now become actually impossible for anyone to protect anything.
Yet, I am not part of this crowd one sees on the tv newstalk shows. You yourselves, the American People, in places like the party caucuses in Iowa where my mother's family is from and put Aunt Margie in its State Senate I believe it was, where the most extreme wingers of your parties surge in during the primaries and skew the choice of the party nominee far to the extreme end of the spectrum, you will have to take an active hand in forcing the politicos who endanger our country and our lives to allow me a fair chance in the Primary and General Elections, contribute a little to funding my campaign, a seat at the table and the microphones when that time comes. I give you this chance to use me to save you now, but this is the only time.
It is the fact of my life that, perhaps due to the many injuries I have endured in China and elsewhere and that Indiana Jones thing - it's not the years, honey, it's the mileage - I can feel it that I have just this one last great effort I can make for my country. On the other hand, as the same fine actor who played Indiana Jones, Harrison Ford playing Han Solo said in the first Star Wars film about his somewhat worn by hard use spaceship The Millenium Falcon, something like "She's fast enough for you old man. I've made a few modifications of my own. She's got it where it counts." I've got what it takes, where it counts, to navigate the beautiful if sometimes hostile universe we find ourselves in: places like China, the U.N., even with our fine favorite old friends in fine old Europe like France, Japan, India and Pakistan - all that hornets nest - and just for a little icing on the cake, The Middle East. Good thing I am a United States and International Lawyer with extensive training and knowledge in The International Legal System. We also will do well to remember that not all with whom we must deal are Boy Scouts. 'Nuf said.
And with the injuries I fight against bearing a little hard on me I think my Press Conferences will be modelled on the friendlier sitting down with a few discerning reporters nearby taking notes format as is shown in a scene in the DVD of The Winds of War, that is, FDR announcing his concept of Lend-Lease being like loaning a neighbor a garden hose to fight a fire instead of that snake-pit thing we were all treated to some months back when no journalist seemed to want the truth but wanted only to somehow make President George W. Bush say something that made him look bad, and sure enough, when far into his Press Conference he admitted that like everybody "I've made mistakes" the newspaper headline the next day said "MISTAKES".
Due to this snake-pit travesty which the whole nation saw and recoiled against, I will plan to use Henry Ford's rule: Never Explain, Never Apologize in some dealings with the Press. Also, as President I will set some standards of Common Courtesy and Decent Conduct which the Press and all others in The White House shall observe.
Like the words in Track 2 of Neil Diamond's fine new CD 12 SONGS, the entirety of which I strongly identify myself with personally, although I am sorry for its use of one rough word expresses myself at this point in my life well and evocatively. Buying and carefully listening to the lyrics of Mr. Diamond's CD 12 SONGS is probably the best fast and easy way to get a feel for the kind of person I am. Also, I especially associate myself with the sentiments expressed in the lyrics of Track 3 as a statement of solidarity of how I will act and serve as President, to all persons (and also towns, cities and states) so terribly stricken by Hurricane Katrina. Track 7 I'm On To You states evocatively and well my message to ugly Islamism. Track 8 evocatively and well expresses my personal message to The American Voter.
Take me now, and behave with common decency and courtesy and respect for the Office of the President, or lose your chance with me, as Lady Delamere said of her man in the fine film Out Of Africa " . . . Such as he is . . . ". Such as I am, I have only this one time to give you. The others, hangers-on one and all, will be here next time around. Not me. I am running in this 2008 election only. Should you fail to seize the opportunity to take me this time, you will then be stuck with the Liliputians, Yahoos and Brobdingnangers, and, you will then deserve the government of them that you get.
|
Semper Paratus Coast Guard Your fine and difficult work in the Hurricane Katrina Emergency was very much appreciated by all Americans. Certainly, in the coming years you will be called upon more often and with greater urgency than ever before.
3. About Business: This is important. It has been well said that The Business of America Is: Business. That is true and it is my plan to be a great President for Business. What is almost always left unsaid, however, is that America is about more than just Business. I plan to be great for Business and to also give importance to other valuable parts of our national life. I owe a debt for fine use of the English language to my legal background. One of the great jurists, perhaps it was Benjamin Cardozo when he was a Judge on the Nw York Court of Appeals, wrote in a Tort case studied by all law students in America ; "Danger Invites Rescue." In that spirit, I have thought through a complete specific plan to save the great American manufacturing companies such as the auto makers Ford and General Motors and the great airlines who are finding they are pushed so far to the wall they are cancelling pension plans. This will also be the saving of their many thousands of employees who have given their lives to their work. This is something I have a clear understanding about. This is something I have a vision - new thinking, sometimes thinking outside of the box - to put to work by working with the True Believers in the Congress. Congress will be called upon to craft effective Legislation. As President I will provide clear Leadership to the Congress, the affected industries and the American People for these important business innovations and Rescues.
4. Suppport For Women. I plan to offer strong support for the Women of America. As President I plan to act to get the back of women like Natalee Holloway and her mother Beth, and also men such as in the George Smith cruise ship honeymoon death case and others, when they are clearly in over their heads and defenseless in shark-filled international waters. Due to the huge and increasing size and scope of the problems of women being oppressed around the world, also all middle women around the world. These include professionals, middle class, working, single, divorced, single, soccer, security and married moms, poor, rich, orphaned and often human-trafficked girls. They are often exploited or unable to find any opportunity above the very bottom rung of things in many different ways. Here I owe a debt to a Law Mentor, a Syracuse lawyer who encouraged me when I was enrolled in The Syracuse University College of Law. He told me a story about when he was in the U. S. Navy. He pointed downward with finger, moving his hand down, down, down and said "When I was in the navy I was the one at the very bottom. When I got out of the Navy I decided that whatever else happened I would never be the one all the way at the very bottom again." Where possible, I will work in that spirit to lift Middle Women from dead-end bottom-feeder kinds of situations. Internationally, however, I may refrain from clumsily or presumptuously intervening in codes of culture in other civilizations. I will not hesitate, however, to intervene anywhere in a case of an American woman who is mistreated. In this sense I will perhaps declare an International Law Doctrine of Universal Jurisdiction, which is very rarely asserted by nations, in the case of such of our men, women and children who may be oppressed far from home.
I give a place of high honor and recognition to Japan. The Middle Women of Japan deserve a special honorific mention. The Middle Women of Japan, in a long silent struggle, have by their solidarity prevented the re-ascending to power of the militarists in the government of their fine country who, as cannot be forgotten, brought so much grief to so many including many Japanese. Concerning this topic, I owe a debt of inspiration to a broadcast from Japan some years ago by, I think, the late great American Broadcasting Company ABC World News Tonight anchor Peter Jennings. Japan is a great civilization, perhaps the only one in the world which is its own territorial land area, ethnic people, language and government. America is fortunate to have as a great ally now such a great people and mature democratic power as Japan.

I recall reading an article in a Naval forces journal which set the maritime world abuzz by reporting the Japanese have sent to sea a new submarine capable of speeds up to 100 miles per hour underwater. As my late Mentor, whose photo with me appears here, occasionally remarked: it is good to have friends who can do more than just breathe. Among my personal Japanese friends I may call upon Naoki and his father, an anti-earthquake engineer and son whose knowledge may be of help in California and other places. As President I plan working in a closely harmonized way with the Japanese and this relationship in its many facets will be a significant part of my efforts. If the Japanese will welcome a visit and the Good Lord is willing, it is my plan to visit as President Japan first among all countries of the world.
Included in this group on the home front will be what I think is perhaps America's largest women's organization, the AAUW: American Association of University Women. I plan to draw upon the great strengths and resources of the AAUW and its members for many things.
5. Children: Kids Are Priority One.
I owe an inspiration on this point to two outstanding men, one a pediatrician who became the head of the Kiwanis International when I was a Delegate to one of their Annual Conventions and Dr. Paul MacCready, a great aeronautical engineer and innovator who I once arranged to be the Speaker at a function where he spoke about children, thinking outside the box and The Nature of Thought.
- 1st - a direct personal Presidential emphatic effort on behalf of the children of the world who have in any sense a substandard, child abuse or child labor or child exploitation life situation and for girls this wreaks a doubly cruel, destructive form of involuntary servitude, bondage to a life of sexual abuse which carries with it today the always there specter of death from AIDS. For this I also owe and acknowledge a debt of inspiration to the two filmmaker gentlemen who made a film about the present huge numbers of oppressed and exploited children - I think an estimate of as many as 269 Million children - which was the subject of one Nightline television broadcast this year on the American Broadcast Company network hosted by Mr. Ted Koppel. If the Good Lord allows me to become the President of We, who President Abraham Lincoln called His Almost-Chosen People, The People of these United States of America, we are going to get their backs. Partly this emphasis by myself is due to my deep grounding in Jesus Christ who said "Suffer the Little Children to come to me, and forbid them not." Wherever the influence of this sentence of the Good News of the love of Jesus Christ for children has been preached child labor laws and other laws of many kinds to benefit children in many ways have been legislated. Also, partly, because although I love children yet have no children of my own, the love of children for me would be like as Mrs. Cowper named her book and Isaiah 35 states it: Streams In The Desert.
- 2nd - a massive project featuring direct involvement of American young children, up to the age of 12. This is my own outside of the box thinking, synthesizing and implementing knowledge and insight learned from the shining bright light of creative and pragmatic intellect that is Dr. Paul MacCready.
6. Fathers & Sons. As President I will work to create a strong ethic in America for close, strong Father-Son family relationships. Although some special care has been taken to provide supportive attentions and efforts for daughters in our families, and some good progress achieved for our girls, our boys have been irresponsibly neglected. This is a sociological problem which has deteriorated terribly in our country in the past fifty years. I have heard statistics that in the 1950s less than 5% of American boys grew up without their father living in their home. Now, due to many reasons, over 90% may be expected to grow up without their father in their home. When fathers become absent Dads, other men and sometimes bad influences of various sorts - juvenile delinquents, petty thieves, gang members, drug culture figures - fill Dad's place teaching our boys their life lessons instead of the positive and useful life lessons fathers traditionally have taught their sons. As a consequence, our boys are not developing and growing into a proper strong manhood as they should. This is a problem across all socioeconomic and ethnic or demographic lines; this is not a problem of just one group. This is not "their" problem. It is all of our problem. This is a serious social problem which has been identified and statistically well-documented by many social scientists and extensively aired on such programs as psychologist Dr. James Dobson's radio program Focus On The Family. I owe a debt of education and inspiration about this topic to Robert Lewis, author of a Men's Fraternity course I have attended from 6:15AM to 7:30 AM once a week at church for six months each year during the past three years which has a curriculum emphasizing strong Father-Son relationships in an Authentic Manhood context that Rejects Passivity, Accepts Responsibility, Leads Courageously, and Accepts A Better Reward: God's Reward. As President I will provide strong Leadership to push this problem up to the front burner of our national consciousness.

7. The Disabled and the Aging. As one who has had many injuries in recent years, losing all sensation in and the use of th lower half of both of my legs for some months, and as a Baby Boomer who is over age 50, the situation of the Disabled has been brought into sharp focus for me. This is a huge and growing problem. The Disabled face difficulties in fitness, medical cae, physical therapy and extended special facility care, personal care, hygiene, mobility, weight control, devastating Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome symptoms which can be severely affected by such pervasive environmental things as warm or cold weather, transportation, ability to get to a telephone, hear the conversation on a telephone, or get to and use a computer to go online or prepare work materials, driving a car, serious long-term pain, job retention and performance, the affordability or lack of it for appropriate durable medical equipment such as an elecric wheelchair/scooter (several thousand dollars) which may require certain Medicare constraints to be brought flexibly into accord with day to day real life situations, loss of friendship and love relationships, loss of ordinary body functions and sexual function, loss of a sense of well-being, usefulness in society and self-respect and a prognosis and a reality of a continued downward ability which lead into emotional problems bordering on depression and may become so psychologically destructive as to end in suicide. There are many good efforts and practical people and solutions working in these areas already, and it is important to clearly state this recognition, yet it is not comprehensive and or all analyzed overall and organized into practical, easy solutions. Should I become President I will bring this issue to the forefront of our domestic awareness in a new way and plan to ask Ted Kennedy, Jr., the son of the Senior Senator from Massachusetts and a new friend and fellow lawyer I spent some time with in conversation (about the first political campaign I worked on, handling bumper stickers, pins and so on as a volunteer when I was a little boy of eight, yes, it was his Uncle John F. Kennedy's 1960 Presidential Campaign) at the Annual Meeting of The State Bar Association of California a year or two ago to join with me in a work. Perhaps a one man Presidential Commission along the lines of the one I saw my mother work in - the Commission appointee with an office and facilities for consultations at the National Institutes of Health would be a pragmatic, cost-effective (meaning not too expensive) good beginning. The Commission would draw in and work together with experts, researchers, doctors, physical therapists, governments, NGOs and companies to set a new energetic tone, style and understanding among our people for creative and practical ways the Disabled can be in useful roles in society and live out their lives fulfilled and in self-reliant self-sufficiency. The Commission may find simple and effective ways, means and methods to help the Disabled achieve their own sense of well being and ability to cope, overcome and each be a strong survivor in their life situation. As President I will provide effective Leadership in communication for the Disabled and the Aging.
8. Accommodating Great World Civilizations: The International Legal System. Expect a civilizationally-tuned increased connectivity on a broad front - cultural, economic, technological, international legal system structures and order, information flow - between parts of the world moving in the process referred to as globalization and those parts of the world which are not but have an interest in doing so.
There may be certain civilizations which do not wish to merge, or be submerged they might say, in the ongoing process and they may be left to work out their own destiny without intrusion from what they sometimes perceive not just as modernization but assimilation into an international cultural order which for them is tantamount to negation of their own valuable culture. It may be that in some situations I will refrain - in spite of my own well-read and informed strong convictions that all people, women as well as men, deserve extensive personal freedom and equality - from intruding (for example, by making abrasive, strident verbal critiques of every aspect of the way another civilization may deal with these issues) upon issues of the status of man-woman legal, religious and cultural relationship in cultural civilizations differing from The West.
For this conflict-laden field I owe a debt of wisdom and understanding to two fine authors, Thomas M. P. Barnett for the work in his book titled The Pentagon's New Map and Harvard University Professor Samuel P. Huntington for his foundational book titled The Clash of Civilizations and the Re-Making of World Order. Professor Huntington's Clash of Civilizations, with a certain gloss of the importance of expanding connectivity which as a rising tide raises all boats raises millions of human beings out of poverty as Mr. Barnett explains in The Pentagon's New Map, provides the premier analytical framework for placing the jarring worldwide events we see on our tv news programs in an understandable perspective. As President I will provide the careful, forward-thinking Leadership in these areas my professional training as a U. S. and International Lawyer, and the foundational, balanced analytical perspective of, in particular these two fine books, properly equips me to project.
9. Help For Hostages. I am including in this campaign my private project to Rescue Hostages who are family members of Americans. This is pictured and explained in some detail on the page of this web site titled Help For Hostages. I include this as for most of you I am an unknown person and you deserve a candid opportunity to see the kind of things I am able to imagineer and will seek to do for the good of America. As this is my own idea I will provide the Leadership for this carefully crafted plan and mechanism to help our hostages. Please see Concept Drawing below.
10. American Know-How. I will be a Teaching President, emphasizing a learning dialogue with my fellow countrymen. Among other things we will learn together about certain international relations developments. This may become nearly unavoidable for many industries, such as automobile makers, airlines and others with pension and or business failures looming, citizens and their concern for their and their children's futures. This includes such things as arriving at a clear, constructive and profitable understanding and perspective on working in our changing world's milieu which includes China's economic emergence, and India's, and to start the long process of regaining America's once widely respected trait known as American Know-How. Here, I myself, by virtue of my background, education and life experiences in the United States and internationally am the primary resource upon which I will draw and share with The American People. As President I will provide Leadership for these situations. I think it is in his fine little book, Intimate Moments With The Savior - Learning To Love Jesus, Ken Gire examines the incident where Jesus overturns the tables of commerce moneychangers and others had set up in the courtyard of the Temple and describes the effect as upending not only the Wooden Tables but more importantly perhaps upending the Wooden Thinking of a system which had become complacent and was taking its own greatness and blessings for granted. As President I will provide fresh start Leadership which, while of kindly intent, may likewise upend some wooden thinking in our own great industries, corporations and workforces. In these cases, the results will depend very much upon the following efforts you, The American People, exert yourselves. As President I will do my part; you must step up to the plate and do yours. As President I will provide you Ready-Steady-Go! Leadership and we together must be always mindful of the simple truth that as Sir Winston once said Leadership Depends Upon Followership.
