AS A FRIEND WHO HAS DONE GOOD THINGS THAT BENEFITTED BOTH CHINA AND AMERICA AND PLAN TO DO MORE EXTRAORDINARY THINGS THAT BENEFIT CHINA AND AMERICA I CONGRATULATE CHINA TODAY 1 OCTOBER 2009 ON THE 60TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE FOUNDING OF THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA. IT SEEMS TO ME THE FIRST THIRTY YEARS WERE GROPING AND THE LAST THIRTY YEARS HAVE BEEN GROWING. IN MY OPINION CHINA STANDS TODAY IN A NEW MATURITY, SOPHISTICATION IN THE WORLD AND STRENGTH FIELDING A DEEPLY EXPERIENCED, SKILLFUL AND STABLE CENTRAL GOVERNMENT TEAM IN PRESIDENT HU, PREMIER WEN, NATIONAL PEOPLE’S CONGRESS CHAIR WU, FOREIGN MINISTER YANG AND COMMERCE MINISTER CHEN. As was said of Ronald Reagan, of whom as you will see from a photo on the Contact Us page of this web site I was a small, rank and file supporter, I enter this horse race for reasons of High Principle. I am a United States and International Lawyer, Syracuse University College of Law 1985 where my major paper in the International Legal Studies Program dealt with The Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty, The International Legal System and the Powers of the U. S. President in the Conduct of International Relations. I am well qualified professionally and pursuant to the provisions of the U. S. Constitution to be President of the United States. I am a Presidential Candidate 2008. I have long and deep relationships with Canada, Israel, China (see photo below with the distinguished Senior Chinese Apellate Judge confirming successful negotiation and agreement on Major Judicial Reform), Norway and the other Scandinavian countries and Great Britain which may greatly benefit America. I have accepted no money from any Special Interest. Therefore I am a Presidential Candidate beholden to no Special Interest. As you will see, I have a little thoroughbred in my family background. I served on the editorial staff of the law school's international law journal including intense close work termed page readings on an extra volume concerning special maritime international law issues:

Proceedings of a Symposium Sponsored by Syracuse University and The University of Pisa, Italy
This knowledge helped me speak, well, knowledgably when, prior to the spate of crises - oh, the Hainan Island U. S.-plane-in-a-box-like-a-puzzle and Belgrade Chinese Embassy frictions, SARS and the Bird Flu, all constellated in time near the events of September 11, 2001, China's response to which I appreciated - that disrupted much of my best ongoing work with China, I unexpectedly had a beautiful bai Qi pao saojeimen served long private luncheon meeting in Beijing (one of the simple yet elegant things among the many I love about China) with the then Secretary General of China's Association For Relations Across The Straits of Taiwan.
You see, under international law, China may consider and assert certain seas are Historic Bays of China - as an article in the above-mentioned Symposium Proceedings volume contributed by a legal scholar from Italy does about, uh, Taiwan about its Historic Rights to underseas treasure. Historic Bays of China may give China priority rights akin to a limited sovereignty in these areas, for example economically as to fishing, mineral rights, drilling rights for oil and natural gas, and perhaps politically and militarily. China may claim Historic Bays not only in parts of The Straits of Taiwan but also in parts of The South China Sea which, as featured in the fine film titled purely coincidentally Armageddon, has very large offshore oil deposits. These may play into the present wild card game of crude oil demand, with prices driven in large measure by China whose growth is gulping down the world's oil like a drunken sailor.
American and Chinese television news programs today November 1, 2007 mentioned China already owns an oil company of its own that is bigger than the largest U. S. Big Oil company, the one founded as Standard Oil by John D. Rockefeller himself which is now merged with another Big Oil company and named Exxon Mobil. According to Neil Cavuto on his show Your World with Neil Cavuto the Chinese firm had its Initial Public Offering as PetroChina in the stock market today, a corporate Baby Huey weighing in as the world's first company valued at birth at over $1 Trillion, exceeding the values of Exxon Mobil and General Electric combined. Biz China directed by Zhou Qianbin reported that share prices tripled during this first day they were traded. Oh. Mom, remember trying to get me to finish your spinach by telling me to think of the poor starving children in China? Well . . . I think you can stop now. Oh. Right. You Gordon Gecko's sitting in fancy seats in America's Big Oil Companies, this may be a good time to buckle your seatbelts over your lederhosen. While America's Big Oil companies have long been known as The Seven Sisters - as U. S. Presidents Bush and Bush are referred to in China as Old Bush and Little Bush, it may come as a bit of a shock that America's former Big Oil companies are probably being referred to now in China as The Little Sisters. That's right . . . we're just going to have to turn the binoculars around and see things through them from the other end for a while.
As a cherry on top of the cake, this week, too, the floating world oil markets price is threatening the markets' psychological meltdown level of $100 per barrel.
Other at length discussions during this significant luncheon brought in also China's highest level police administration official who extended to me the privilege of opening to me personally every prison in China.
War with Taiwan was raised repeatedly, I three times reiterating my personal view that whatever China wanted to accomplish of significance with Taiwan could be done peaceably. Repetition has its value. The peaceable path we spoke of is mastered by spokeswoman Fan of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, the welcome appropriate successor of my friendly relationship with the Secretary General which was a special gift, and I look forward with her to deepening its value for China. Spokeswoman Fan has that quality I have often admired in a woman of China marvellously articulated by the great American author John Steinbeck with the inexplicably evocative word Sand.
A further topic of great interest to the Chinese was probing my personal view of The Dalai Lama.
A WORD IN SEASON FOR CHINA
Just now, in early November 2007, in the aftermath of the 17th Chinese Communist Party Congress, the leadership reports it is grappling (perhaps groping in the dark better reflects the discernible tinge of fear shown in the statement admitting the problem which, understandably, would be enough to scare any government structure) with some significant problems such as the inequitable distribution of resources, chasms between massive wealth accumulations and poverty, and lack of effective services among the Chinese populace. Although the leadership mentioned this directly (not to the entire CCP Congress sessions but in smaller, though still large, follow-on focus or press sessions) as worrisome and I have referred to it above as significant, still, due to the crucial importance of these problems as a friend of China I want to express to China - which I have almost never done, not presuming upon difficult matters which are nonetheless perhaps tinged with feelings related to sovereignty; this is a different circumstance: here China almost seems to be asking me so I break my silence - the importance for China of this problem. This problem is in a peculiarly critical category. I identify them as ultimate issues which is my personal prime focus of my special knowledges, capacities and expert professional abilities. When ultimate issues come into action at the national or systemic level, it puts in play at the very least loss of face within the international legal system and at the worst but still possible the present government and political regime's ongoing stability, order and the very ability to maintain its existence itself and govern the nation is brought into question. I learned in some deep relationships in China that there is a Chinese way of expressing an unkindly disposition, one which is un-generous perhaps driven by some secret, ulterior or devious hostile motive or agenda, sometimes expressed as having a narrow heart and or a very calculating mentality. I say to China that I do not have a narrow heart towards China nor unlike some others a very calculating mentality or any kind of ulterior motive or agenda, or pure, simple hostility based on some form of prejudice or bias, sometimes described in American parlance as ill will about anything actually but here I specifically mean as to these ultimate issues. I have an open mind and a caring heart about this for China, perhaps the more deeply felt by me as I have had personal experience with the special power of China which is in her women. So I reach out to China my hands and heart, mind and spirit to meet, study, analyze, share dinner, converse for the long times required to first just break through many inhering barriers between East and West thought lives and achieve a true understanding based on mutual knowledge and trust - like the long slow process of peeling layers of an onion's skin to finally reach the ultimate core which makes your eyes water - and then be able to work through on a continuing basis to solutions with the leadership. I bear these things in mind and ponder them in my heart and will help China comprehend and transition well some of the changes it is going through when suitable arrangements are made for my return to China. For myself, I am not very interested in such things as going out everywhere, money, fame or being seen at parties with so-and-so. I care about relationship, quiet work with intelligent counterparts on issues that may bear great fruit, and always relationships, beauty and good living. This time a longer, settled down way of life in China will be necessary in order to be most useful. As I now have a partial walking disability I will take in, in accordance with law and custom several, I think not more than twenty, university age Chinese friends into my personal household in Beijing to take care of me in all ways, some of whom will accompany me on travels in China to I think Shanghai, Xi'an, Wuhan, and Guangzhou. I may teach an international law and relations seminar style class in a room of my household. I will need some assistance in advance with workable arrangements which I think must be initialized at China's highest levels and agreeable to all concerned.
